Threads - Threads have NPTF thread form, but conform to Socket Screw Products Bureau specification SS-102 to incorporate the 7/8” per foot taper. These plugs will seat with the socket end approximately flush to the surface of the tapped hole.
Material – Alloy steel. Through Hardened to Rockwell "C" 36-43. Brass and 316, 304/302 Stainless Steels also in stock.
Pitch diameter - The pitch dia. at the socket face is the diametral equivalent of one-half thread larger than the pitch dia. (e1) of a standard pipe thread tapered tapped hole (0.750 diametral taper per 12") this provides the basic point of thread interference to produce a high pressure sealed joint.
Identification grooves - Six equally spaced identification grooves (3 permitted on 1/16-27 due to space limitations) to be located equidistant between corners of hexagon socket and edge of chamfer. No particular alignment with Hexagon is required.
